What a wire harness from us includes

A wire harness is a finished part, not a kit. It arrives as one part number with every branch cut, every contact crimped and seated, every breakout dressed, and a test record in the box — so your line assembles it rather than wiring it.

  • Wire cut to length and stripped to the strip length the contact requires, conductor count verified, no nicked strands
  • Crimped with the correct die for each contact family; IDC for ribbon; soldered where the drawing calls for it
  • Housings loaded to the correct cavity and polarity, with seals and TPAs fitted where the housing takes them
  • Breakouts taped, sleeved, braided or conduited, and routed on a board to the geometry on the drawing
  • Marked with your part number and revision, packed so terminations are not damaged in transit
  • Shipped with the continuity and crimp record for the batch

We do not publish a gauge range or a maximum circuit count, because both depend on the contact, the housing and the tooling for it. Send the drawing; the quotation says what we can build and what we would change.

Wire harnesses are one of eight build types we quote. The others are listed here because a job rarely arrives as one clean category — a panel loom needs ferrules, a sensor harness needs a coaxial branch, a battery loom needs lugs.

How a job runs

Nine steps in three stages, each recorded against the job. The first three are where most of the value is: a drawing read properly before it is priced saves a week of questions after.

  1. Drawing reviewWe read the wire list, connector callouts, gauge, colour code and length tolerances, and come back with questions before quoting rather than after.
  2. Sourcing & alternatesHousings, contacts, seals and cable sourced against the specified part. Where a part is obsolete or on long lead, we propose a mechanically and electrically equivalent alternate for your approval.
  3. Costed quotationBroken out by material and labour rather than a lump sum, so you can see what drives the price and where volume changes it.
  4. Cut and stripWire cut to length and stripped to the strip length the contact requires, with conductor count verified and no nicked strands.
  5. TerminationCrimping with the correct die per contact family, IDC termination for ribbon, and soldering where the drawing calls for it.
  6. Crimp verificationCrimp height measured and pull force tested against the contact manufacturer's figures. This is the joint that fails in the field, so it is checked, not assumed.
  7. Assembly and dressingHousings loaded to the correct cavity and polarity, then taped, sleeved, braided or conduited and routed on a board to the drawing's geometry.
  8. Electrical testContinuity and correct pin-out on every assembly, with insulation resistance and hipot where the application requires it.
  9. Label, pack, dispatchMarked with your part number and revision, packed so terminations are not damaged in transit, and shipped with the test record.

Quality: measured, not assumed

A harness fails at the termination far more often than in the wire, so that is where the inspection effort goes. Crimp height is measured with a micrometer against the contact manufacturer’s range, and pull force is sample-tested destructively. Every assembly is continuity-tested on every circuit, with short and mis-wire checks — the failure that passes a simple buzz test.

Supplying from India to customers abroad

We quote in INR, EUR or USD against the Incoterm that suits your route — EXW, FCA, FOB, CIF or DAP (Incoterms® 2020) — and the rule for an order is fixed on the quotation, so freight and duty are not a surprise at dispatch.

For a customer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the parts of the job that matter to an importer are handled as standard: RoHS and REACH declarations for the parts actually used, for your technical file; conductor colours and identification to IEC 60204-1 where the harness goes into machinery; halogen-free constructions where the end product’s fire class calls for them. Correspondence is in English, and a question sent during your working day is answered during ours.

A partial drawing is fine. We would rather ask questions than have you spend a week preparing a package before we have even talked. The more of this that arrives with the enquiry, the fewer questions there are.

Questions we are asked

Is there a minimum order quantity?
No. One-off prototypes and pre-production runs are quoted like any other job, because the prototype is where the drawing gets fixed. The quotation is broken out by material and labour, so you can see what changes when the volume does.
Can you source the connectors, or do we supply them?
Either. Housings, contacts, seals and cable are normally sourced by us against the part numbers on your drawing. Where a part is obsolete or on long lead we propose a mechanically and electrically equivalent alternate for your approval before anything is ordered. If you prefer to free-issue connectors, we will build with them and say so on the test record.
Which workmanship standard do you build to?
IPC/WHMA-A-620, the acceptance standard for cable and wire harness assemblies. The class — 1, 2 or 3 — is agreed per job from what your drawing specifies. Soldered terminations are to IPC J-STD-001 where a drawing calls for solder rather than crimp.
Do you supply outside India?
Yes. We quote in INR, EUR or USD, ship under EXW, FCA, FOB, CIF or DAP (Incoterms® 2020), and provide the RoHS and REACH declarations an EU or UK importer needs for their technical file. The Incoterm for an order is fixed on the quotation.
What do you need in order to quote?
A drawing or sketch with lengths marked, a wire list if you have one, the connector part numbers or a photo of the mating part, the quantity, and anything about the environment — temperature, flexing, fluids — that the drawing does not say. We come back with questions before a number, not after.
Do you hold ISO 9001?
Management-system certificates are shown on this site only once they are held, with the certificate number, so that the claim can be verified. What is always true of the work is that it is built and inspected to IPC/WHMA-A-620, with a test record kept against every job and cable and contact lots traceable to it.
